Art/Science Experiments
These "Science" Experiments are mixed media elements from remnants of other art projects created over the years including photos of fluorescent projects shot under ultraviolet light, 3D elements created with polymer clay and a textured material created using gel medium to simulate an "organic web."
An on-going theme in much of Cannon-Karlos' work has been experimenting with different media, materials and processes as she attempts to depict natural phenomenon and natural processes. The artist often uses metallics, fluorescents and ultraviolet light to mimic elements found in rocks, minerals, underwater creatures, weather and volcanic phenomenon.
Each project is displayed in shadow boxes to accommodate the 3D mode and fragile nature of some of the elements.
