It was 1978, I was 23 years old and that was the year I was given the opportunity of a lifetime - to design the promotional poster for the Bob Marley Berkeley Concert at the Greek Theater on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley. Watch the video to hear my story...
In 2004 I was able to share my incredible story of how I was chosen to create the now famous 1978 Berkeley Concert Poster featured in the BEAT. The original concert poster above belongs to The Roger Steffens Reggae archives. Roger Steffens was the former editor of the BEAT magazine and has the largest Bob Marley collection in the world. I got to go backstage and meet Bob Marley in person! Now my poster has a place in Reggae history.
THIS PRICELESS POSTER IS FEATURED IN STEFFEN'S WORLD CLASS REGGAE COLLECTION:
"Visitors to my 'World of Reggae" exhibit in 2001 at the Queen Mary often crowded around the Wailer's section centerpiece, a poster for Marley's 1978 Greek Theater show in Berkeley, that was signed by Bob and 28 of those closest to him."
Roger Steffens (Former Editor of The BEAT)
